state of the saloon
okay so it’s 100% my mistake for choosing a bar for our feb 19 event that can fit 50 people. y’all sold ts out in a matter of four hours (and I pushed to 80…prepare to be squished), and we have over 30 people on the waitlist. i’m choosing a way bigger bar next time and, as per usual, am so grateful to see the level of engagement from the saloon community. for those of you i’ll be seeing next wednesday, i’m warning you we have no food so eat before. <3 for those of you who I won’t be seeing, I’m trying to do more low-lift, meet-at-a-bar events, so we can properly hang out. always taking recs for locations and collabs for these, duh.

absolutely sick thing happening:

Produce Parties just launched their second magazine edition SQUASH. This issue includes recipes, essays, poems, and love notes that honor the chill of this season with introspection and a reverence for coziness.
Produce Parties is a community that celebrates seasonal produce at its peak. Our mission is to keep finding new ways to celebrate seasonal produce in an approachable way, and to support our local food systems. Buy the magazine here, and keep up with Produce Parties on Instagram.
saloon bulletin:
- is one of the best writers on Substack (full stop), and here she talks about LA and big feelings
- & threw a super successful and egregiously fun party at Radio Star on Valentine’s Day, raising $4k for Planned Parenthood. tons of saloon members were in attendance & we recruited a few more.
The Libi Project’s next installment in their Culinary Creatives series borrowed heavily from the saloon community, locating connects at Index Space, Studio Roza, and Anna Yukevich, to make it happen. RSVP here!
remember: we are always taking nominations! and you can join our community + the group chat with a paid membership at any time by emailing juliafharrison@gmail.com.
