meet pr genius isabelle conner of skinfix

we have been graced by skincare gods, and skinfix reached out to offer the saloon team some samples of their new barrier balancing water cream. below, a brief with the mind behind the launch, Isabelle Conner, who told me her life story over three glasses of wine at Lucien a few months ago & I was enamored. her answers to these q’s are hilarious and in super good taste. the brand is offering a 15% discount code for saloon members: skinfixsaloon15.

izzi conner, her skincare routine

1. Last restaurant that blew your mind:

I’ve had two uniquely near-religious experiences in the past few months: the first was at Smithereens, the new seafood spot in the East Village, which left me licking my plate in the company of my former work-wife (& current friend) Ellie Clune. I think about the seaweed butter each & every morning. The second, and just a bit further downtown, is one of the new-ish omakase spots, Kaki. My sister, CeCe, and I had a last-minute 15-course meal. One of the courses arrives aflame! Delicious & BYOB. We had Sancerre.

2. Last thing you bought IRL:

Four vintage oversized t-shirts off a rack in Prospect Heights — a functional purchase, for working out. And a still-life from a small gallery in Narrowsburg, NY — it’s a bowl of fruit nestled on a table. My friends say it’s a vignette of strawberries & cream, but I think they’re peaches & cream. I love the ambiguity.

3. Your absolute favorite skincare products:

In the morning, Paula’s Choice Vitamin C, Skinfix’s Barrier-Balancing Water Cream, and sunscreen—either Supergoop!’s Glowscreen or Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua—are in my rotation. At night: I alternate between VT Cosmetics Reedle Shot (which I ran out of mere days ago!) and a prescription retinol, which is followed by Skinfix’s Triple Lipid Peptide Cream. I occasionally top it off with the Pai Rosehip oil. I also love P50V and have been dabbling with Sick Science Lab’s Shapeshift Jaw-Defining Serum.

4. What has the water cream replaced in your routine?

One of the most delightful parts of my job is that I’m compelled (for research!) to try as many products as possible. You need to know what people are gravitating towards & what’s trending, and why. As a result, the moisturizer slot in my routine was a revolving door—though I was once most partial to French pharmacy brands. Enter: our Barrier Balancing Water Cream, which was formulated for combination skin, like mine. It’s light, it genuinely works well under makeup, and it absorbs beautifully. You can check out the outstanding clinical claims on our website. But it’s a perfect, do-it-all, white tee of moisturizers.
