state of the saloon
Our event at Cherry on Top was ummm my favorite ever—so joyful, laidback, I met my idols and other people also met their idols. It just felt generally very inclusive and warm and sweet, albeit sweaty as f*ck, and the downpour waited just until the tab closed. I didn’t take any pictures at this event because I lost my phone like 40 minutes before it even started but film pics coming, of course. Enormous thanks to Daly for helping org this, specifically the ever-exuberant Laci Helfrich, and to Glossier, SkinFix, Quit with Jones, and Raazi Tea for these gift bags.

We’re hosting another event this Friday at Posh’s HQ in SoHo with speed-dating moguls D8 Time, in collaboration with Dio (collaboration here meaning, of course, Open Bar). People have been asking me if you need to be single to come to this and the answer is: abso not. Just come hang out!!! Tickets are $20 but if that’s not feasible for you, email me juliafharrison@gmail.com & don’t be shy. I just want u to be there. Paige Stewart Enslow made this amazing poster for us (she’s available for projects…js…).

Cait Rance interviewed
for Thank You Very Much. It’s obviously so cute.- is handling PR for a play at The Brooklyn Center for Theatre Research called The Jag. Tickets are available here. From Chloe: Set in a country home in the Catskills, The Jag takes a comedic, sharp, and surreal look at creative entropy, romantic confusion, and class warfare. Drawing on rhythms traditional to indie cinema, the play filters contemporary cultural absurdities, escapism, and domestic drama through a tightly contained, character-driven lens.

Ahead of our Friday event, we’re intro-ing you to the co-founder of Dio, a canned cocktail brand working with low-sugar low-ABV and high-quality cocktails which is really amazing news for those of us that are approaching or solidly swimming in our 30’s and literally cannot drink in a cool way anymore. They’re offering saloon members 20% off their order using code DIOSALOON20 through July 11.

last restaurant that blew your mind:
I had such a memorable meal with friends at Corima on the Lower East Side, the new spot from Contra alums. The sourdough tortillas with recado negro butter alone are worth the reservation—they steam when you rip them apart—and the duck enmoladas are not to be missed. Plus, their mezcal list is one of the best in the city. Hey, never not working…
when was the last time you needed to crack a cold Dio and put your feet up:
We’ve been working hard on expanding our retail presence, so it’s been nice to sip a DIO at the end of the long days of meetings and travel. We actually just announced a partnership with Bowery Presents and launched our newest flavor—the Blood Orange Cosmo—in the span of a few weeks, so I was definitely ready to celebrate after that sprint.
a song that describes the brand perfectly:
“Overpowered” by Róisín Murphy. It’s seductive, eccentric, and a little dramatic… just like DIO. High fashion meets dance floor hedonism. You don’t sip it, you surrender to it.
how you're celebrating pride month as LGBTQ+ founders:
We’ve been specifically focused on supporting queer-owned businesses with in-kind donations, including BOFFO, Superhouse, and Hudson Pride. DIO makes it easy to celebrate anywhere and at any time!
My co-founder Bronson is also having his annual Sunday Pride party which is a special celebration a la DIO.
other LGBTQ+-owned businesses or artists you love:
Aplos, Visitors Center, Eli Halili, Nightpalm, Big Night, Maison Sun, Boy Smells, Flamingo Estate… To name a few!
