I shouted out this perfume from Maison D’Etto in AD this week, but for those who love the smell of hot asphalt, Mediterranean shrub, musk and kissing—here’s your signature scent. I’m assembling all the best smells I’ve ever smelled in this ShopMy collection but (besides Durban Jane) the standout is a body wash from this brand I find totally random but it’s my #1 rec on the list. $25 for oud, amber, bergamot, and tonka bean.

Danya Issawi featured the latest piece from my personal substack (orzo bimbo) in this week’s Substack Post. The comments section got so scary….Midwesterner circle-jerk….many strong opinions, personal confessions, and a few gutting anecdotes from the over-80 crowd on Substack.
Stopped by the Fritto Editions launch at million goods this week and spoke briefly with EIC Ebru Eltemur about the current state of food media. Not dissimilar from a few takes Oset Babür-Winter gave this week during a talk at Moss. In short: if you’re a restaurant group without a PR firm and with a chef that’s committedly anti-celebrity, you’ll find it veryyyyy difficult to land on a Best Restaurants round-up, like, anywhere. (Also, an important reminder that Infatuation doesn’t take comps so their restaurant rankings are made through pure, unadulterated, hungry discernment. This continues to be more and more important.)
Followed up Fritto with dinner at Kelang which WAS SO GOOD!!!!!! Most of you seemed to already know that but I’d never even heard of it. It was amazing.

Lastly, I released ephemera this week, with Yuria Kailich kicking off the series. It’s time saloon get back into feature world, I think.

First: this is ephemera. I’ve been thinking for a long time about the best way to profile saloon’s members in a way that doesn’t feel pandering or dull, and as such I’ve been thinking: What is the best way to explore a person in time you didn’t spend with them? I found my answer in trash, basically, or in editorial speak, the detritus of time spent in the real world: receipts, tickets, notes, stickers—the garbage we keep in our coat pockets, the bottom of our bags, the junk drawer of our desks. It’s a nice way to understand a person—seeing what they hold onto consciously or unconsciously, what they rediscovered and what it made them remember. Yuria was an obvious first choice because she is my crush.
