saloon scene 2
lily sullivan's week in the life..."globby and magical," design week recap, & recs from saloon sceners
founder recs:
Design Week just happened and before crashing out about the forever-encroaching distance of my life from my Real Life™, I was eating it up. Worth seeing Colony’s exhibit in Tribeca, seeing what’s new from In Common With, digging through the vendors at Shelter, FOMOing about Frama’s barbecue at Million Goods, peeking at Rarify x Gantri’s new lamp, Beverly Shop’s new freaky incense holder, and Henry Julier’s release for USM. Or: do none of that and live in the real world and get a glass of wine with your friends outside while it’s not raining. Million Goods would actually be a good place for that. No food, a lot of centipedes on the patio, great wine, amazing bartenders, FRAMA furniture. Very vibey.
Our saloon scene reporter Sam Falb and I missed each other at Valentino’s listening room this week but, as he describes for The Cut, “I felt like I’d been somewhere quieter, older, and cooler than a major brand’s Madison Avenue flagship. The crowd, a mix of fashion insiders, downtown heads, and curious plus-ones along for the ride, seemed to feel the same.”
Otherwise —
I’m watching everything on this list of fashion must-see films from Another Magazine, curated by Louise Wilson.
Came across Rio Chen’s work at a tiny store in Clinton Hill and can’t stop looking.
Talina is popping up at 262 Mott through May 26. This shit is so it-girl and I will fold.
- put me onto Malo Chapuy’s paintings at Frieze.
I would go to this on Wednesday at 357 Canal Street. Holy Cowow, Friend Editions, and a curated selection of artists for END IS NOW.
And I’m thinking about attending this Notch Magazine release party May 30.
Ran into phenomenal writer
as I now do about three times a week and asked that she write up a week-in-the-life for our saloon scene installment this go-round. As always, she does not disappoint:
