before I get to recs: just letting you know that saloon took a blissful BTS approach to events at Big Night and Kalei this weekend (namely guest list, event coordination, & gift bag curation), with Quit with Jones and Fireside Pilates, respectively. I was in Virginia wedding dress shopping for my sister but was sent about 25 nominations as a result, so if you were there - love you, thank you.
I am recommending Olmo sight unseen (I’m going next week, I’ve heard it’s amazing), a new restaurant in deep Bed-Stuy serving up cantinaaaaa and by that I mean full fucking branzino so you know I’m there; I also loved my little sammy from new Crown Heights sandwich shop Bottega, and have my eye on new coffee shop Derby on Elizabeth St.
I’m moving - this is a personal announcement where I’m corrupting this platform to tell you two things: I want to buy the breakfast nook table you might be selling & also send me all your vintage furniture finding secrets. I’m on top of Good Behavior, dw.
Brooke Schuh found me on Instagram somehow and now I can’t stop ogling at their work. Brooke, if you’re reading this, you will soon be getting a commission ask from me….
In NY’s never-ending venue drought, god bless Godspeed for opening their beautiful space for events. Email events@godspeedarts.org!
Palorosa and Pura Utz collab resulted in glass….bead…poppies…I’m SICk. I have to have them
If anyone’s having a blow-up-my-life crisis, I would spend the summer working at Double Grazie in Rockland, Maine. Email doublegrazie@gmail.com for the most blissed-out summer of your life

Brooklyn Center for Theater Research (June 20-July 6): The BCTR will present The Jag, a new play by Paul Felten and Robin Schavoir out of Matthew Gasda’s always buzzy, never staid homage to new and emerging theater. In the play, a country home becomes a setting for hijinks, manipulation, relationship acrobatics, and a splash of the unknown. Per the theater, “The Jag takes a comedic, sharp, and surreal look at creative entropy, romantic confusion, and class warfare.”
Climax Books (June 20): The chicest (and most well-curated) art and fashion publication store Climax Books is set to host a special fundraiser tee release with JT and fundraising platform Mother, Daughter, Holy Spirit at the book dealer's mirrored, pristine New York location in the East Village. Proceeds will benefit the Trans Justice Funding Project.
Dustin Yellin at Almine Rech (June 26): Global gallery Almine Rech will open a show of Dustin Yellin’s work at their Tribeca location with a festive cocktail: always a sight for the fashionably artful, the artfully fashionable, and those who are just their to snag a complimentary glass of champagne (not a crime). Yellin is a personality to be reckoned with in-person and through his practice, with “If a bird's nest is nature, what is a house?” exploring time, chronology, and simultaneity through a flurry of sculpture-bound glass, epoxy, collage, and acrylic paint.

On Sunday, June 22nd at 7:30 PM, catch a night of improv comedy hosted by Fuck This Month and Holy Shit Improv. The show transforms the not-so-great moments of your past month into comedic gold, featuring up-and-coming stars and improv legends alike.
On Saturday, June 28th at 7:00 PM, don’t miss Dynasty Tonight!, a semi-weekly live show with performances by stand-up comics and artists. This installment features Reggie Watts, Atsuko Okatsuka, Brian Bahe, Mo Welch, Baby Velvet, and more. You never know who’ll drop in… seriously, John Mulaney showed up unannounced the last time I went. It was insane. Also, try their popcorn, it’s amazing.
For lovers of local theater, the Hollywood Fringe Festival is back and running through June 29th. Since 2010, this festival has spotlighted productions from emerging writers and performers, and it now features hundreds of shows.
